Drexel's Washington Named To Dawn Staley Award Late Season Watch List

Drexel University women's basketball graduate guard Keishana Washington was named to the Dawn Staley Award Late Season Watch List by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia.

Washington continues to garner national recognition after being named a semifinalist for the 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year last Wednesday.

Additionally, she is a top-10 candidate for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year, awarded by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and WBCA, and was on the watch list for the USBWA's Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year.

The Dawn Staley Award was established in 2013 to honor the nation's best guard in women's Division I college basketball.

The award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills Staley possessed throughout her career: ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win.

The late-season watch list is comprised of 14 players from 14 institutions and eight conferences.

The CAA was one of two mid-major leagues represented on the list, as Washington was accompanied by Eastern Kentucky's Antwainette Walker from the ASUN.

Washington is third in the nation in points per game and total points (644), scoring 26.9 per contest.

The league's top scorer has reached double figures in 58 straight contests, recorded at least 20 points in 19 games and tallied 30 or more on nine occasions, including a conference-high and program-record 42 points against Penn State on Dec. 18.

Washington's impact extends further than scoring, as she ranks third in the CAA in assists (101) and assists per game (4.2).

An integral part of the Dragons' success, Washington has logged 842 minutes and is third in the league in minutes per game (35.07).
