This tweet comes a month after the Olympic gold medalist confirmed he intended to use his final year of NCAA eligibility. Ever since then, rumors have spiraled about whether or not Steveson was coming back for a major NIL deal. Gable's announcement precipitated a statement from the Minnesota AD about Steveson's return. Rumors picked up recently when a picture started making the rounds of Steveson in the Iowa practice room.
As of a month ago, Steveson still had to sort out scheduling details with the WWE before his return is official. He started his career at Minnesota as a true freshman in the 2018-2019 season. With 2021 not counting toward his eligibility, Steveson has one year of eligibility remaining.
Lastly, just a reminder that Gable Steveson is named after legendary Iowa coach Dan Gable.
