Clauson Marshall Announces Fill-In Drivers For Injured Tyler Courtney

A pair of super subs will take over driving duties for the Clauson Marshall Racing Sprint Car as Tyler Courtney recovers from a back injury suffered Friday during the Knight Before The Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. The CMR team led by Tim Clauson announced Monday that Pennsylvania native Anthony Macri and California driver Corey Day will split driving duties until Courtney is fully healed.

A timeline for Courtney's return has not been announced; however, it was announced on Saturday that he is expected to make a full recovery.

"The relationship between Tyler Courtney, our family and our racing team is extremely important," Clauson said. "He is not just our driver, he is family. It is a testament to our team, led by Jake Argo and Tyler, that we are able to get two drivers of this caliber to help us continue to compete and chase the ASCoC championship while Tyler makes a full recovery from his injuries."

Macri will take over driving duties for the No. 7 CMR Sprint Car during Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events on the team's schedule. Last year's winningest Sprint Car driver will also drive for the team in the prestigious Knoxville Nationals, August 9-12 at Knoxville Raceway.

Macri's first race for the team will be this Tuesday's Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway.

Day, an eight-time NARC 410 Sprint Car winner already this season, will get behind the wheel of the No. 7 Sprint Car for High Limit Sprint Car Series events. The California native will reunite with Clauson Marshall Racing after driving the team's Midget in 2021. That year, Day became the youngest USAC National Midget Series winner at the age of 15 years, six months and 12 days. That record has since been broken by Ryan Timms.

Clauson Marshall Racing has won two consecutive Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions titles with Tyler Courtney behind the wheel, and the team currently leads the way in the 2023 championship standings.
