2022 WNO Winners Gomez & Booe Bump Up To 112 For 2023 WNO

At 2022's Who's Number One, Gabriella Gomez was victorious at 100 lbs while Clare Booe won at 106 lbs. Now they're both at 112 for a match at 2023's WNO.

2022 WNO Winners Gomez & Booe Bump Up To 112 For 2023 WNO

A year ago, it was Gabriella Gomez defeating Val Solorio at 100 lbs and Clare Booe winning over Gigi Bragg at 106. This year, it's Gomez vs Booe at 112 for an all-star bout at 2023's Who's Number One.

Booe will arrive at the event having won both the prestigious High School Showcase, held during the US Open in April, and Junior Nationals, famously held in Fargo, North Dakota in July. That stop sign earned by Booe at Fargo was in perhaps the deepest bracket of all the girls' divisions. The Junior 122 bracket at Fargo featured seven top ten wrestlers, including highly ranked competitors from 117 and 106, all piling into one weight class.

Gomez also has a long list of accolades to her name. She won a 2023 Illinois state championship wrestling for Glenbard North in Carol Stream, Illinois, located west of Chicago. Gomez is also a 2022 U17 world silver medalist, having won the team trials at 46kg and then wrestling her way to the podium at the U17 World Championships in July of 2022.

Gomez also placed third at Fargo in the same bracket as Booe. The two did not meet at the tournament, however, as Gomez was upset by Janessa Georgia in the quarterfinals, though she did wrestle back to place third, beating Lindsey Lopez in the consi finals, and outplacing George, who fell to Lopez in the consolation semifinals.

Florida native Clare Booe will be traveling a bit further than Gomez in order to get to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where this year's annual event will be held. Booe may have a shorter trip, however, if she leaves from Kingston, Pennsylvania, where wrestles for Wyoming Seminary. Booe won a National Prep championship last year and will be a senior at Wyoming Sem this fall. Gomez still has two more years of high school before she graduates.
