Mitchell Mesenbrink will be wrestling 165 lbs for the Nittany Lions at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic.
2023 U20 World champion Mitchell Mesenbrink will be wrestling attached at 165 lbs for the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. As a second-year student-athlete, Mesenbrink is no longer allowed to utilize the five-event rule meaning he will not be redshirting this season.
2022 national qualifier Alex Facundo will not be wrestling, keeping his ability to Olympic redshirt alive. You can find all of the brackets, ranked wrestlers, and schedule HERE.
Given that this tournament is pool play, Mesenbrink will face Cooper Noehre of Purdue and Connor Herceg of Lehigh before taking on the same cross-pool placer from a pool containing Evan Gleason, Chance McLane, and Dakota Morris.
Penn State will be back in action next weekend at the Blak Knight Invitational, which will also be streamed on FloWrestling. Mesenbrink could potentially hit #8 Caleb Fish of Michigan State. Mesenbrink's potential top-five opponent wouldn't be until #3 Cam Amine of Michigan on January 19th.
