AJ Ferrari, a 2021 NCAA champion for Oklahoma State as a true freshman, made his return to college competition at the Soldier Salute after over two years away from college competition. Ferrari secured a match-winning takedown in sudden victory over potential future Iowa Hawkeye teammate #25 ranked Zach Glazier, but he was disqualified shortly after the match for an on-mat confrontation.

Ferrari was tied with Glazier 1-1 in the third period with one minute and one second of riding time. The riding time advantage would have given Ferrari the victory, but a stalling call sent the match to sudden victory.

In sudden victory, Ferrari secured what appeared to be a match-winning takedown, but a post-match confrontation with Glazier resulted in Ferrari being disqualified. After the match concluded, Ferrari and Glazier exchanged shoves, then Ferrari appeared to swing at Glazier which resulted in Glazier pointing at Ferrari and Ferrari holding up his middle finger. Ferrari was then disqualified for flagrant misconduct.

The Allen, Texas, native posted an apology on his Instagram story stating he is "disappointed in his reaction this weekend." Below is Ferrari's full statement.
