Carson-Newman guard Nick Brenegan has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week eight of the 2023-24 season, the Conference announced today.

Brenegan, a junior from Greenville, S.C., reset the NCAA Division II and SAC record books with a 64-point performance in the Eagles' win over Newberry (103-51). Brenegan set a new NCAA Division II and SAC record for most three-pointers in a game with 18, and he set a new SAC record for points in a game with 64. He shot 66.7 percent from three-point range for the game, while also hauling in three rebounds. In addition to his record-setting performance, Brenegan scored seven points with four rebounds and two assists in a loss to Lincoln Memorial earlier in the week. He finished the week averaging 35.5 points per game with 3.5 rebounds per game with two assists.
