Clark averaged 19.5 points per game on 65.5 percent (19-29) shooting in a dominant 2-0 start to league play for the Seawolves. The graduate forward added 9.5 rebounds per contest and was impactful defensively, with 2.5 blocks per game. On Friday, Clark scored a game-high 21 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the floor with six rebounds and a season-high four blocks as Stony Brook defeated Campbell 73-43. On Sunday, she followed the effort with 18 points and 13 rebounds, recording her fourth double-double this season. Clark added a season-best four assists and one block in Stony Brook’s 68-55 victory over UNCW.

Barbot averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, leading Charleston to its first 2-0 start in CAA play since 2019-20. On Sunday, the freshman guard tallied a game-high 22 points with six rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 57-45 win at Elon. The performance came after 13 points, six rebounds and two steals on the road against North Carolina A&T in Charleston’s 63-58 conference-opening victory. Barbot has reached double figures in six straight games and has 20 or more points four times this season.
CONFERENCE NOTES:
FIVE FLAWESS THROUGH WEEK ONE: Five teams opened CAA play 2-0 over the weekend. Stony Brook extended its winning streak to seven games, and Charleston improved to 8-2 in its last 10, following back-to-back victories. Additionally, Drexel started 2-0 in league play for the fourth straight season, while Delaware won consecutive games to snap a five-game skid. Finally, William & Mary was victorious in two nail-biters to open CAA play 2-0 for the first time since 2017.
LOOKING TO WEEK TWO: League play continues with five games on Friday and a seven-game slate on Sunday. On Friday, Charleston hosts Drexel in a battle of 2-0 teams, while Stony Brook puts its winning streak on the line against Towson as the top two teams in the CAA Preseason Poll go head-to-head. Moving ahead, Delaware carries its 2-0 mark into Sunday when the Blue Hens host Stony Brook, and Charleston entertains the defending conference Champs after a Monmouth bye.
STARTING FIVE: On Jan. 3, Stony Brook’s Khari Clark was named to the NCAA Starting Five, which honors the top five weekly performances in NCAA Women’s Basketball. Clark scored a team-high 21 points to SBU to their fifth straight win and 10th this season, defeating Cornell 81-56 on Dec. 30. She finished 9-of-11 from the floor and moved up to seventh in the nation in field goal percentage (66.7%).
NOTHING BUT NET: As of Monday, Jan. 8, Stony Brook remained in the top 100 of the NCAA NET Rankings at No. 63. In addition, seven more teams cracked the top 200. William & Mary rose to No. 164, its highest ranking this year. Monmouth followed at No. 169 and N.C. A&T was No. 174. Charleston (178) continued to rise, while Drexel (180), Towson (185) and Delaware (194) remained among the top 200.
CAA HOOPS IN THE MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Two CAA teams were recognized in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Stony Brook and Towson remained ranked for the seventh straight week. The Seawolves rose to No. 8, and the Tigers were at No. 25. Towson has cracked the rankings in each poll this season, and multiple conference teams have received recognition in five consecutive weeks.
TEAM NOTES:
• Campbell opened its CAA tenure with back-to-back road contests, falling to Stony Brook (73-43) and Monmouth (49-47) to begin league play.
• Christabel Ezumah averaged 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to pace CU. Ezumah surpassed 10 points in each contest, including her fourth double-double this year at SBU.
• Shy Tuelle reached double figures with 11 points against Monmouth. It marks her seventh game with at least 10 points this winter.
• Charleston started 2-0 in CAA play for the first time since 2019-20, defeating N.C. A&T (63-58) and Elon (57-45) on the road. The Cougars are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
• Taryn Barbot paced CofC with 17.5 points per game, adding 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. Barbot had 22 points at Elon, marking her fourth 20-point effort this year.
• Jenna Annecchiarico extended her double figures scoring streak to 11 games. She averaged 14.5 points per game with 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
• Delaware won consecutive games to start league play, defeating Northeastern (86-73) and Hampton (76-61). The victories snapped a five-game skid for the Blue Hens.
• Chloe Wilson led the way with 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Wilson notched her second double-double this season with a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds at NU.
• Sydney Boone added 15.0 points and 5.0 assists per contest. Boone has reached double figures in three straight games and 10 times this season.
• Drexel opened CAA play 2-0 for the fourth consecutive season following victories over Hampton (72-57) and Northeastern (67-65).
• Brooke Mullin reached double figures in both games, leading Drexel with 19.5 points per game. Mullin had 22 points against Hampton, marking her third game with 20 or more this season.
• Chloe Hodges tallied a career-high 21 points versus NU, including the game-winner. She added six rebounds and four assists.
• Elon dropped back-to-back contests to begin its conference slate. The Phoenix fell to Towson (58-53) and Charleston (57-45) over the weekend.
• Iycez Adams averaged 11.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for the Phoenix. She added 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest. Adams reached double figures for the seventh time this season with 13 versus TU.
• Ajia James tallied a team-best 14 points against Charleston. James has scored at least 10 points in five games this winter.
• Hampton went 0-2 over the weekend, falling to Drexel (72-57) and Delaware (76-61) to open CAA play.
• Camryn Hill averaged 25.5 points per game, surpassing 20 points in each contest. Hill poured in a career-high 26 points against Drexel before 25 points at Delaware. Hill has at least 20 points five times this year.
• Zaiha Minnis and Janae Dublin also reset career highs over the weekend. Minnis tallied 11 points against Drexel, and Dublin contributed 13 at Delaware.
• Hofstra went 1-1 in its first CAA action, defeating UNCW (82-54) before falling to William & Mary (48-46). It marks the Pride’s first CAA-opening victory since 2015-16.
• Emma Von Essen averaged 12.0 points per game for the Pride. The sophomore had 15 points in the victory, marking her 11th game in double figures this season.
• Sorelle Ineza and Zyhemia Swint also reached double figures for the Pride. Ineza had a team-high 17 points, and Swint added 10 against UNCW.
• Monmouth went 2-1 throughout the week, including a 1-1 start to its CAA slate. The Hawks fell to William & Mary (70-66) before topping Campbell (49-47) in league play.
• Kaci Donovan averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She reached double figures in all three games and had over 20 points in two games, including a season-high 23 against W&M.
• Jania Hall had double figures in two games. She tallied 11 points against Georgian Court and 10 versus Campbell, including the game-winning free throws.
• N.C. A&T split its opening weekend of league play, falling to Charleston (63-58) before bouncing back with an overtime victory over Towson (62-52).
• Jordyn Dorsey reached double figures in both games, averaging 12.0 points with 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Dorsey had a team-high 14 points in the win.
• Against Charleston, Chaniya Clark recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double this season. Clark also hit the game-tying three versus Towson.
• UNCW dropped its first two games to begin its conference schedule. The Seahawks fell to Hofstra (82-54) and Stony Brook (68-55).
• Taylor Henderson averaged 20.5 points per game, reaching double figures in both contests. The redshirt freshman tallied a career-high 26 points at Stony Brook.
• Evan Miller has reached double figures in four straight games. Miller had 21 points at Hofstra, marking her third with 20 or more this year. She averaged 16.5 points per game for the weekend.
• Northeastern opened CAA play 0-2 following setbacks to Delaware (86-73) and Drexel (67-65).
• Derin Erdogan paced NU with 29.5 points per game. She scored a career-high 32 points against Delaware before 27 at Drexel. The senior has 20-plus points in four of the last five games and double figures in seven straight.
• Deja Bristol added 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Bristol reached double figures in both games and has completed the feat four times in the last five games.
• Stony Brook extended its winning streak to seven games after a 2-0 start to CAA play. The Seawolves defeated Campbell (73-43) and UNCW (68-55) over the weekend.
• Khari Clark averaged 19.5 points per game on 65.5 percent (19-29) shooting with 9.5 rebounds per contest. She tallied her fourth double-double this season against UNCW.
• Gigi Gonzalez stuffed the stat sheet, contributing 14.5 points, 7.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. Gonzalez has at least 10 points in every game this season.
• Towson went 1-1 over the weekend, defeating Elon (58-53) in its CAA opener before falling to N.C. A&T (62-52) in overtime.
• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She has reached double figures in three straight games and nine times this season. Her 23 points at A&T mark the third time she’s surpassed 20 this year.
• Patricia Anumgba had 15 points in the victory, marking her ninth game with at least 10 points this season.
• W&M started 2-0 in CAA play for the first time since 2017-18, defeating Monmouth (70-66) and Hofstra (48-46). The Tribe overcame fourth-quarter deficits in both contests.
• Against Monmouth, Anahi-Lee Cauley scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Tribe. She went 9-of-14 from the floor to reach double figures for the second time this season.
• Bella Nascimento tallied 20 points against Monmouth and hit the game-winner at Hofstra. Nascimento has at least 20 points in three games this season.
