PR Of The Week presented by TrackSmith: Maury High School's Lavontae Bond
This Virginia High School sprinter clocked a new indoor best this weekend at Adidas Track Nationals
National championships provide prime opportunities for personal records.
That was certainly evident this weekend in Virginia Beach, as over 1,200 high school athletes secured elite performances at adidas Track Nationals inside the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
One among them?
Maury High School's Lavontae Bond, who clocked a career best 200 meter time of 21.41 seconds in the championship boys division, earning his first national title. He's this week's PR of the Week presented by TrackSmith.
The Norfolk, Virginia native clipped nine-hundredths of a second off his preliminary race and dropped more 0.48 seconds from his outdoor PR of 21.89 from 2023.
The performance represented his first and second efforts at the distance ever over his indoor career, and now leads him into an outdoor campaign where he should compete for a VHSL Class 5 title.
Check back each week for a new PR of the Week presented by TrackSmith.
