Campbell baseball rolls into the first Coastal Athletic Association series of the 2024 season as one of the hottest teams in the nation. The Camels head to Delaware, bringing a streak of 10 wins over their last 11 games, with the sole defeat coming against perennial powerhouse North Carolina, and eight straight wins overall.

During its eight-game winning streak, Campbell averaged a staggering 14.1 runs per game. The Camels plated no fewer than nine in any of those contests.

Campbell heads into the beginning of Coastal play ranked No. 18 in on-base percentage (0.442), No. 12 in the nation in runs scored per game (10), and fourth in home runs (48).

A rough patch against Big Ten Conference counterpart Rutgers and a standalone matchup with Georgetown cooled what had been a strong start for the Delaware pitching staff. Freshman Tyler August struck out 30 in his first four appearances, including 10 over 5 2/3 innings in a win over Quinnipiac.

Eli Aitya, who has appeared in six games thus far, has an eight-strikeout effort in 5 1/3 innings vs. Lafayette to his credit.

The Blue Hens will need their best stuff to combat Campbell's impressive start.

The nationally-ranked Camels feature eight batters with multiple home runs already on the season, including Dalen Thompson with five; Andrew Schuldt and Reed Stallman each with four; and a pair sporting batting averages north of .400 to go with their team-leading home-run production in Lawson Harrill (seven home runs, .406 average) and Grant Knipp.

Knipp's powerful presence helps set the table for the explosive Campbell offense.

Outfielder Andrew Amato is setting the pace among Delaware's primary batting order across a variety of categories.

With a .302 average and 16 walks drawn, he's tops in on-base percentage at .493—his 19 RBI lead the Blue Hens, and he's hit six home runs to bolster a .698 slugging percentage.

Amato has racked up four multiple-hit games already on the season, including three-hit performances against both Jacksonville and Rutgers. His 3-for-3 showing against JU including two of his six homers thus far on the campaign.
