Surprises, upsets, and fights to the end

Raleigh

The only surprise here was Nebraska. Though we all expected them to advance, they scored way over their regular season RQS of 196.815 with a huge floor rotation that went 49.4. Nebraska came to play.

Individuals Advancing: Lane - UNC; Drouin-Allaire - GW

University Park

Washington didn't have the best meet, posting their lowest team score since February,  but they were good enough to edge out ASU by nearly five tenths.

Individuals Advancing: Leonard-Baker - ASU; Bridgens - PSU

Minneapolis

The fight was all set going into the day between [12] Kentucky and [13] Denver, but Denver really struggled on beam and had to count a 9.425. They shot five tenths under their RQS while Kentucky scored pretty on-par with their season in order to move on.

Individuals Advancing: Ramler - Minnesota; Brown - Denver; Sievers (VT) - Iowa State

Tuscaloosa

GEORGIA!! Georgia showed up.

Well, actually, Michigan just had a pretty terrible meet for Michigan. The Wolverines had a low-ish scoring floor rotation, having to count a 9.625, and they had a 9.7/9.8-heavy beam lineup. Their final 196.350 was a score we haven't seen from them since Week 3 of the regular season. An average vault and bar rotation really added to the struggle.

Georgia had a big bar rotation with 9.925s from Oakley and Snead.

Unfortunate day for Michigan, but good for Georgia.

Individuals Advancing: Balthazor - Illinois; Brown - Michigan, Pedrick (FX)  Central Mich

Columbus

It was close between Ohio State and Arkansas, with just over two tenths between their final scores. Ohio had a difficult beam rotation, with only one score breaking a 9.8. Arkansas, on the other hand, had four events score over a 49.1.

Individuals Advancing: Remme - Boise State; East - Bowling Green; Stone (VT) - Ohio State

Salt Lake City

It was a fight to the last routine...on the last event between Cal and Auburn, who also only had two tenths between them in the end. Auburn had a disappointing finish to their beam lineup when their anchor, Taylor Krippner had some big wobbles in a routine that went 9.025 and kept the Tiger's beam score at 49.1. So close . . .

Individuals Advancing: Price - Stanford; Watson - Auburn; Ciero (UB) - Auburn; Milliet (BB) - Auburn; Hortman-Evans (UB) - BYU
