There are some pretty high stakes for this Final X Speical Wrestle-off between Dake and Dieringer. The 79kg world team spot is on the line and Ringer qualifies for the Olympic Trials if he wins. But most importantly, these matches should be treated as though they are deciding the gold medal because, well, it will.

In case you forgot, Dake blitzed the field last year in Budapest, outscoring opponents 37-0 en route to his first world title. Included in that was him pounding Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov of Russia 13-0, avenging his loss from the Yarygin.

With Gadzhimagomedov out for the year with a knee injury and Dake just returning from a knee injury of his own, Ringer has ascended to the top of the 79kg weight class. He's won two Ranking Series events, and in doing so beat the European champ, the Asian gold medalist, and last year's U23 world champ.

These are the two best guys at the weight. Yes, the world championships are hard and goofy things happen, but the guy expected to win in Nur-Sultan is coming out of this best-of-three series.
