The Purdue softball team moved to a 6-1 record, following a 4-1 victory versus Southern Illinois and a 4-2 loss to Nicholls State.
MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Purdue softball team moved to a 6-1 record, following a 4-1 victory versus Southern Illinois and a 4-2 loss to Nicholls State.

With the victory over SIU, pitcher Sydney Bates moves to a 4-0 record on the season while tallying her first complete game of the 2020 campaign. While in the circle, Bates allowed just two hits while producing five strikeouts.
Powered by eight hits in Purdue's second game of the day, Rachel Becker, Skye Webb, Cora Bassett and Becca Jones each recorded a run vs. Southern Illinois. Additionally, Kendall Chase led the way with a team-leading two-RBI effort.
Meanwhile, senior Alexa Binckes notched her first home run of the season in the seventh inning vs. Nicholls State.
The Boilermakers will be back in action with a doubleheader Saturday. Purdue will take on Monmouth at 11 a.m. ET followed by South Dakota at 1:30 p.m. ET.
