Now let's dig deeper into the top eight teams and examine their strengths and weakness at each weight class by showing which wrestlers on each team will be counted on.
Iowa has the most balanced and impressive team in the country, which they have proving all year long. They are the favorite by an astounding 46 points according to the seeds. Penn State still has four to five title threats, but they will need Iowa to stumble fairly badly to have a shot at that title and that is without allowing any margin for error on their behalf.
Everyone else in the top 10 has a shot at a top-four team trophy, although Ohio State leads the pack and has the best shot at surpassing Penn State for second-place. Nebraska placed ahead of Penn State and Ohio State at Big Tens, but when the field is expanded to the entire NCAA they are projected (according to the seeds) to finish fifth.
And now, because we all love heat maps, here is a heat map by home state based projected NCAA points from seeds with pins for hometowns!
