All remaining NCAA winter and spring athletic championships have been canceled in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, including the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships that were scheduled for this weekend.

NCAA president Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors made the decision on Thursday after their initial announcement on Wednesday that NCAA Championship events would be contested without fans. Since that announcement, however, the NBA and NHL suspended their seasons while other leagues around the country did the same.

For collegiate track and field, this wipes out the indoor and outdoor championship seasons, which will of course have a far-reaching impact on athletes and coaches.

FloTrack was on the ground in Albuquerque as athletes and coaches found out that their NCAA track and field seasons were over.

Before the NCAA’s announcement, the Big Ten and ACC conferences had already pulled their athletes from competing in Albuquerque at the DI NCAA Indoor Championships.
