It shouldn't come as a surprise that a historic conference like the Big 12, which currently has exactly 12 teams, will have a presence at the most prestigious high school event of the year. It also shouldn't come as a surprise that the historically best team from the Big 12, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, will be the team with the most recruits wrestling.

Oklahoma State brought in the #1 recruiting class of 2020, and they're bringing in another monster recruiting class in 2021. The Pokes have five recruits signed so far from the class of 2021, and three of those recruits — Victory Voinovich, Travis Mastrogiovanni, and Kyle Hass —tw are both in the top 15 of their entire class and competing at Who's #1.

Voinovich is an absolute hammer on top and will be making his return to Who's #1 after pinning four-time California state champion Jesse Vasquez.

Voinovich, an Ohio native, will be taking on Nebraska commit Jagger Condomitti for the #1 spot at 152 lbs. In Voinovich's first time competing above 150 lbs. earlier in September, he picked up a big victory over #7 Nick Vafiadis.

Wrestling one weight class above Voinovich will be Travis Mastrogiovanni. Travis will be joining his older brother Trevor, who is also a National Prep champion, in Stillwater next year. Originally from Sparta, N.J., the Mastrogiovanni's have competed 30 minutes down the road for powerhouse Blair Academy for the past four years.

Long and lanky, Travis projects as a 157/165 in college. He will be taking on Ohio State commit Paddy Gallagher at 160 lbs.

Sitting at #10, and one spot below Mastro, on the 2021 Big Board is Kansas native Kyle Haas. Kyle was successfully recruited by his older brother and OSU recruiting coordinator Tyler Caldwell. Tyler was an NCAA finalist for the Cowboys in 2014.

Haas is a strong 220-pounder who isn't afraid to go upperbody and throw opponents. In addition to making the 2019 Cadet freestyle World Team, Haas won Greco-Roman trials as well, but opted to only do freestyle at the World Championships. He will be taking on Malvern Prep junior, and current #1, Nick Feldman.

Sooner fans should be excited as well as they will have Fargo champion Tate Picklo competing at 195 lbs. Tate's older brother Cam is currently a redshirt freshman for the Sooners. Tate, another big man not afraid to mix it up and go upper body, was on the 2019 Greco World Team. Picklo will be taking on Ohio State commit Seth Shumate in what could sneakily become the most exciting match of the night.

The Sooner State isn't the only state with a Big 12 commitment, however. West Virginia commit Jordan Titus will be defending his #1 ranking against Princeton commit Dean Peterson at 126 lbs. The first time the two squared off it was Titus coming away with a 10-4 victory.

Training with/under 2007 NCAA champion Gregor Gillespie, Titus has become an exciting wrestler to watch and is a huge pickup for coach Tim Flynn who will be entering his third season as the Mountaineer head coach.

Wrestlers Who Could End Up At Big 12 Schools

While  five wrestlers have already committed to wrestle at Big 12 schools in the future, four more listed Big 12 schools on their possible school lists.

  • Jordan Williams: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
  • Rylan Rogers: Oklahoma State
  • Cody Chittum: Oklahoma State
  • Cael Valencia: Oklahoma State

The rich could continue to get very much richer as all four who included at least one Big 12 school listed OSU. Mustang, Oklahoma native Jordan Williams was the only wrestler who listed a second school in the conference; Oklahoma.

Williams will be part of the three-man group at 138 lbs. He'll have #3 ranked Jesse Mendez in the very first match of the event. The winner will take on #2 Joel Vandervere later in the evening. A two-time Fargo champion and Super 32 champion, Williams is an electric wrestler with the ability to beat anybody.

Rylan Rogers, the cousin of former Oklahoma State wrestlers Chandler and Jordan Rogers, is the current #1 ranked wrestler at 182 lbs and #7 on the Class of 2022 Big Board. While originally from Spokane, Washington, Rogers competes for Blair Academy.

Also competing for Blair is Tennessee Cody Chittum. Chittum is currently the #3 ranked sophomore in the country. He will be taking Iowa commit Wyatt Henson for the #1 spot at 145 lbs. in what could be an all out brawl. Although Henson is currently #1, Chittum defeated the PA state champ 12-2 last season.

Lastly, Cael Valencia. Valencia is the highest remaining member of the 2021 Big Board who has yet to at least verbal to a college. The brother of Arizona State stars Zahid and Anthony Valencia, Cael is still keeping his recruiting options open. The Super 32 champion and California state finalist will be up for a tall task as he's taking on two-time Cadet World bronze medalist Alex Facundo in the main event of the evening. This will be a rematch of the 2019 Folkstyle Nationals in which Facundo won 3-2.
