Before taking a loss to Lenny Pinto at Who’s #1, Rylan Rogers was the consensus #1 182-pounder in the country. On paper, he’ll be the favorite this weekend, but with six top-10 guys in the field, bringing home the belt is far from a done deal.

Here are the main storylines and wrestlers to watch for at 182 lbs.
Will Uncommitted Rylan Rogers Bounce Back?
Behind Nic Bouzakis, Rylan Rogers will be the second-best uncommitted prospect in the field this weekend. The Blair Academy junior is keeping his options open and I don’t think we’ll see a decision anytime soon. View his preliminary school list HERE.
Don’t put too much stock into a loss to Lenny Pinto. Pinto is a Nebraska commit, Pennsylvania state champion, and one of the best pound-for-pound wrestlers in the country. In fact, this could have litten a fire under Rogers and we could possibly see him come back looking better than ever.
Rogers defeated probable #2 seed Jake Evans in the Ironman finals last season in a close match. Rogers continued his success last season by winning a National Prep title and making a Powerade final by defeating JT Davis, 7-3, one round after he defeated Evans.

That’s a lot of ranked wrestlers that pose a lot of threat to top dog Rylan Rogers. That is why I said winning that Super 32 belt is far from a done deal for Rogers.
Nine Div I Commits
Of those 10 ranked wrestlers, five have already committed, leaving four unranked wrestlers who have committed as well. We could see a future roster battle between UNI Panthers as both Adam Ahrendsen and Jared Sima will be present.
A potential future Big Ten rivalry could occur as well if Rutgers commit and New Jersey native Brian Soldano and Maryland native and Georgia commit Jaxon Smith meet. The two actually met twice at last year’s Super 32, with Soldano winning both by a combined three points.

I’m very high on both future ACC commits as well. Virginia commit Rocco Contino placed third at California state last year, only losing to Cael Valencia. Two-time Pennsylvania state placer, Escape the Rock champion, and returning Super 32 placer Joey Milano committed to NC State back in August. Milano tech falled Bucknell commit Isaiah Reinert, who will also be in this bracket, at the PIAA state tournament last year. You can watch that match HERE.
