Top Upperweight Kolby Franklin Commits To Iowa Hawkeyes
Kolby Franklin, one of the top-ranked upperweights in the nation, has committed to wrestle for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Kolby Franklin, ranked #7 in the nation at 195-pounds and the #41 recruit in the high school class of 2022, has committed to joining the Iowa Hawkeyes.
A senior at Wyoming Seminary and originally from DuBois, PA, Franklin chose Iowa over a host of suitors, including Penn State. Also in Franklin's class of high school seniors committed to matriculating in Iowa City is the #30 ranked recruit, Aiden Riggins, of Shell Rock, IA.
More blue-chip Iowans are on the way in the high school junior class as well, as #5 Nate Jesuroga, and #16 Ben Kueter, are committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at Iowa.
The Hawkeye just brought on to campus another big haul of recruits. Their true freshmen include class of 2021 Big Boarders #5 Drake Ayala (125-pounds), #14 Wyatt Henson (141-pounds), & #37 Caleb Rathjen (149-pounds).
Franklin recently placed third at the prestigious Super 32 Challenge. He also placed fourth at Fargo, splitting matches with eventual Super 32 champ Rylan Rogers. Franklin won the top-side bout but fell in their battle for the bronze medal.
We recently caught up with Kolby at Wyoming Seminary in advance of 2021's Who's Number One, where he discussed his teammates, his environment, and what it was like to train at M2 with Olympic gold medalist David Taylor.
