RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 13, 2021) – Towson junior Jason Gibson and Charleston freshman Ben Burnham have been selected as Colonial Athletic Association weekly award recipients in men’s basketball for their performances over the last week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jason Gibson, Towson

Junior | Guard | Severna Park, Md. / Sidwell Friends

Gibson averaged 18.0 points per game in a 2-1 week consisting of a double-digit win at Kent State, a 40-minute battle with No. 21 Ohio State, and a convincing win at Coppin State. The guard from Maryland scored 11 points in the road win over the Golden Flashes, 19 against the nationally ranked Buckeyes, and 24 in Saturday’s Baltimore battle. Gibson’s 24 points Saturday were fueled by eight three-pointers, which matched Towson’s single-game individual mark and helped the Tigers break the team single-game record with 16. Gibson shot 59% from the field and 54% from three during the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ben Burnham, Charleston

Freshman | Forward | Fort Mill, S.C. / Carmel Christian School

Burnham makes it 5-for-5 in Charleston freshmen earning Rookie of the Week honors to begin the season. The forward from outside Charlotte helped the Cougars to a 2-0 week with a double-digit road win over Tulane and home victory against Presbyterian. Burnham earned the start against the Blue Hose and played 35 minutes, grabbing a career-high nine rebounds while adding eight points, two assists, a block, and a steal.
