The Seahawks claimed their first CAA Softball Championship in program history following a perfect 3-0 weekend at the conference tournament. UNCW defeated second-seeded Hofstra 2-1 before downing top-seeded Delaware 4-2. In the championship the Seahawks bested fourth-seeded Elon 10-2 in six innings to secure the CAA title.
UNCW maintains a 32-13 record, which is tied for the third-most wins in a single season in program history. The Seahawks have never faced Clemson or Louisiana and are 0-5 all-time against Auburn.
The CAA has had four teams reach a Super Regional and one team advance to the Women’s College World Series in league history, while a CAA team has won at least one Regional game in the past nine seasons.
