NASCAR Pinty's Series Delivering The Drama In 2022

Is there a more underrated racing series in North America than the NASCAR Pinty’s Series? Recognized as Canada's premier stock car series, the NASCAR Pinty's Series has earned the reputation of being the “Silent Thriller." While the series might not garner the most attention, it certainly delivers the drama.

We’ve already talked on FloRacing about how diverse the NASCAR Pinty’s Series schedule is. The series crisscrosses the Great White North visiting bullrings, road courses, street courses, old airports, and even a dirt track for the first time this year. That kind of diverse schedule lets this talented field of drivers produce excitement on a regular basis.

If you don’t believe us, just look back on the finishes from each of the first two races of this season. Those races were held on two completely different race tracks. One was a 1/3-mile oval in Sunset Speedway, and the other was a 10-turn, 2.5-mile road course. And yet both produced thrilling, full-contact finishes.

The season opened with a two-lap trophy dash between former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race winner Raphael Lessard and Treyton Lapcevich banging their way around Sunset Speedway with the crowd on their feet. Lapcevich ended up taking the win after he moved Lessard up the track and out of the way.

Thrilling Finish To NASCAR Pinty's Opener

Then it was off to the road course at the legendary Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with a new cast of colorful characters at the front of the field. Kevin Lacroix dominated for much of the eBay Motors 200, at one point amassing a lead of nearly 10 seconds, but a late-race caution erased that.

Gary Klutt and Alex Tagliani both had tries at Lacroix on the first restart before the caution waved again for a hard crash in the middle of the field. Then, Klutt was able to get by Lacroix on the next restart, but couldn’t get away. Lacroix closed back in on the final lap and made hard contact with Klutt entering the 10th and final turn, a turn that always seems to produce memorable moments. Klutt slid into the outside wall and Lacroix hustled across the finish line to take the win.

But it didn’t end there.

Lacroix has been under fire on Twitter since Sunday’s race ended, and he hasn’t held back in his responses. In one tweet, Lacroix said “(Klutt’s) last lap was awful he crumbled under pressure, played the blocking game rather than racing."

The best part about all of this is that there’s only been two races. There’s still 11 races to go in the season, and the next race on June 11 will be on the high-banked quarter-mile short track at Autodrome Chaudiere in Quebec, which is sure to produce plenty of action once again.

If you want excitement, if you want to see full contact racing and hurt feelings, if you think rubbin’ is racin’, then you need to be watching the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. They know how to deliver the drama.
