OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Casey Touey, Drexel
Sophomore | Forward | Rockledge, Pa. / Abington
Touey scored twice in a 1-0-1 week that pushed Drexel to its best four-game start in program history at 3-0-1. The sophomore from Pennsylvania collected a brace in the Dragons’ victory over Lehigh on Thursday with goals in the 24^th and 69^th minute of the in-state win.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zoe Doughty, William & Mary
Senior | Goalkeeper | Woodbridge, Va. / Woodbridge
Doughty led the Tribe to back-to-back shutout wins over teams that played in last season’s NCAA Tournament. The goalkeeper on the preseason All-CAA team tallied seven saves, including four in the second half, as William & Mary defeated Old Dominion before notching two saves in a win at reigning Big South champ High Point.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Summer Reimet, Monmouth
Freshman | Forward | Ocean City, N.J. / Ocean City
Reimet factored into all three goals of Monmouth’s Thursday victory over Fairleigh Dickinson, scoring twice and adding an assist. The freshman from South Jersey registered a pair of shots, including one on goal, in Sunday’s setback against No. 10 Penn State.

NEWS AND NOTES

STRONG START

The CAA ranked eighth nationally through Sunday with a .593 winning percentage in non-conference play.

Drexel and Hofstra remain unbeaten in their non-league slates, while Monmouth and Stony Brook are off to 3-1 starts in their first year in the CAA.

All 12 teams have at least one victory this fall.

DRAGONS ON FIRE

Drexel is off to its best start in program history at 3-0-1 through four contests.

The Dragons have scored at least two goals in all three of their victories and are outscoring their opponents 8-3 on the young season with CAA Offensive Player of the Week Casey Touey tallying three of those goals.

DRAFT PARTY

Three CAA seniors - Hofstra’s Lucy Shepherd (Washington) and Miri Taylor (Angel City) and UNCW’s Audrey Harding (Washington) - were selected in last winter’s NWSL Draft.

The three CAA selections were tied for the most of any non-Power 5 conference. 

WELCOME!

Stony Brook and Monmouth are both off to 3-1 starts in their first trip through non-conference play as CAA members. 

Hampton picked up its first win on Monday, scoring 10 goals against USCAA member Regent.

It was announced in August that Campbell will join the group for the 2023 season.

TEAM NOTES

CHARLESTON

•   Olivia Freitas and Faith Slimmer lead the Cougars with five points each this season.

•   Charleston’s six goals in the season’s opening weekend came from the foot of six different scorers. 

DELAWARE

•   Delaware returns home Thursday to host Lehigh after playing three straight road games.

•   Izzy Lane assisted on three of Delaware’s four goals in the opening 1-0-1 weekend.

DREXEL

•   Drexel’s 3-0-1 start is the best in program history.

•   The Dragons have allowed an average of 3.5 shots on goal per game through four contests.

ELON

•   Elon’s seven goals through three games are the program’s most since 2017.

•   Freshmen Isa Murdock and Rachel Buckle have scored their first career goals in the August portion of Elon’s non-conference schedule. 

HAMPTON

•   The Pirates picked up their first win of the year with a 10-0 rout of USCAA member Regent on Monday. Maya Martir factored into five goals in 21 minutes of play, scoring three times and adding two assists.

•   Nyle Nwainokpor and Tayrn Goodwin also recorded three-goal efforts for Hampton on Monday.

HOFSTRA

•   Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir’s eight points (3 G, 2 A) lead the CAA so far this season against Division I opponents.

•   The Pride’s non-conference schedule includes four Ivy League opponents with games at Yale and Brown and home against Columbia and Princeton. 

MONMOUTH

•   Summer Reimet tallied two goals and an assist against Fairleigh Dickinson to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors - the second weekly award for the Hawks in two weeks as a CAA member.

•   Monmouth will be off this week before taking a trip to former MAAC foe Saint Peter’s next Wednesday.

UNCW

•   A pair of headers from Jordan Faveri and Kayla Burroughs early in the contest gave UNCW an early lead in the Seahawks’ eighth-straight victory over Coastal Carolina.

•   The home contest against Coastal was the first of seven straight matchups in the state of North Carolina for UNCW. 

NORTHEASTERN

•   Three of Northeastern’s four goals this season have come from freshmen with Vivian Akyirem scoring two and Ava Nace adding one.

•   Northeastern does not leave New England in the non-conference portion of its schedule, playing six contests in Massachusetts and one each in New Hampshire and Connecticut. All eight matches are against opponents from New England states.

STONY BROOK

•   Stony Brook’s five goals on Sunday were the most for the program since 2017 and the highest total by a CAA team against a Division I opponent this season.

•   All but two of the Seawolves’ 11 goals this season have been scored by newcomers with seven coming from freshmen.

TOWSON

•   Riley Melendez has three shutouts in four games this season and 11 solo for her collegiate career.

•   Nia Christopher moved into the top 10 in program history in goals with the 15th of her career. 

WILLIAM & MARY

•   William & Mary defeated a pair of 2021 NCAA Tournament teams in last week’s victories.

•   The Tribe has collected a CAA weekly award in each of the season’s first two weeks, as this week’s Defensive Player of the Week, Zoe Doughty, follows Rookie of the Week Ivey Crain from the first Monday of the season.
