UVA Wise’s guard Josie Hester has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during Week 2 of the 2022-2023 season, the conference announced Monday.
Hester, a sophomore from Huntersville, North Carolina, led the Cavaliers to a 2-0 record last week with wins over King (Tenn.) (100-64) and Belmont Abbey (77-69).

She recorded a career-high 21 points Wednesday (Nov. 16) in the win over King. She averaged 17.5 points for the week, plus eight rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Hester shot 68.8% from the field, 85.7% from the three-throw line and 70% from 3-point range.
