Alara Boyd has had quite a college career. The McKendree senior has reached the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCAA programs) each of the past three seasons and snagged the 155-pound title in 2021. She's had success at the international level, too. Boyd has made four age-level World teams and won a pair of medals in the U17 division (bronze in 2016 and silver in 2017).
Boyd will take on Adaugo Nwachukwu at the NWCA All-Star Classic on November 22. Boyd picked out three of her favorite matches and provided brief comments on why they were important to her career.
2016 Women's National Championships: Boyd vs Breanna Douglas
This is one of my favorites because it was to make my first World team as a cadet. I still remember this tournament vividly as it was a huge stepping stone for my wrestling career.
2021 Women's National Championships: 65 kg Round Of 32, Boyd vs Vada Burton
I threw my first five ever in this match. I won this tournament and made my fourth age-level World team.
2021 Junior World Championships: 65 kg Repechage, Boyd vs Yana Tretsiak, BLR
This match solidified Team USA as the World champion and it put me in a bronze medal match.
