Originally from the Mazandaran region of Iran, Hassan Yazdanicharati (Yazdani) has won cadet, junior and senior-level medals for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is one of the most popular wrestlers in the country. Yazdani's career accolades include Rio Olympic Champion, Tokyo Olympic Silver medalist, three-time World Champion, and two-time Asian Champion. He is engaged in a fierce rivalry with American David Taylor. Taylor beat Yazdani in the finals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but Yazdani got revenge in the finals of the 2021 Oslo World Championships. He competes at 86 kg.
