A native of Elroy, AZ, the Valiant Prep product has been something to watch for some years now. Ysaguirre finished sixth at the freakshow in 2017 at 102 pounds in the 15U division. At the schoolboy level, Ysaguirre won double title at the AZUSAW freestyle/greco state tournament in 2018.

Valiant Prep had never had a home dual in five years. That finally change when they hosted the Wild West Showdown where they had wrestlers from across the country come to their school for an event.
Emilio Ysaguirre moved on from the Eloy Boys to wrestle at Arizona State. In the second semester the ASU coaches brought him on a road dual to Nebraska. Emilio got the nod to face #4 ranked Brock Hardy and had a big win, upsetting the Husker.
