It's hard to overstate how much exciting college wrestling took place this past weekend. All seven conferences held their championships over the last few days and determined the majority of the qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Championships that will take place in less than two weeks in Kansas City, Missouri.

One of my favorite age-level tournaments of the year has arrived - the Junior World Team Trials. The nation’s best high school upperclassmen and college underclassmen putting it on the line for a chance to represent their country overseas.

U20 Nationals (formerly known as UWW Junior Nationals) is one of my favorite age-level tournaments every year. The top high school upperclassmen get to test themselves against the best first or second year college guys who are often hungry to compete coming out of redshirt. It's the first step in making the Junior World Team as the winner of this event will earn an automatic berth to the best-of-three wrestle-off series against the World Team Trials challenge tournament champion in June.

Nearly two-thirds of the starters in the ACC will be headed to Detroit. In other words, this conference has an extremely high concentration of talent, and every match will matter.

The Southern Scuffle is humming along in Chattanooga as the first day of 2022 brings with it another slate of excellent college wrestling.

The Iowa Hawkeye's holiday tournament saga final turn will land them in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the 2022 Southern Scuffle. With the cancelation of the Midlands Championships and then the cancelation of the Hawkeye Open, the Hawks needed somewhere to get their nonstarters matches and the Scuffle accepted them in.

When Spencer Moore flies to Budapest for the Cadet World Championships he will be the veteran on the team. Not from an experience point of view, necessarily. He has competed in single digit freestyle tournaments in his life. There’s a high probability that Moore will be the least experienced freestyle wrestler at the tournament.
