2020-21 NCAA D1 Pretend Preseason Rankings
141
The NCAA has decided not to grant winter sport athletes another year of eligibility. These preseason rankings, however, have been assembled presupposing that those extra years were granted and that everyone elected to return and compete. We had to make a bunch of other assumptions too since it's April and all sorts of speculative lineup decisions have yet to be hypothetically made. So best not to take these too seriously, even though it would be incredibly cool if it happened. But no, only in our dreams. As real as it may seem, it will only occur in our dreams.
Yianni and Eierman are both coming back next season, but now imagine if Luke Pletcher got another year as well? Also bring back McKee, Moran and Heil for another season. Now that is a deep weight class!
As the two-time reigning champ, Yianni claims the #1 spot in the rankings. Eierman gets the #2 spot after placing third in 2019.
We're making a fairly wild guess that Austin Gomez moves up to 141 and the rest of the Cyclone lineup through 165 bump up as well. We will find out, though, as Alex Mackall, Todd Small, Gomez, Ian Parker, Jarrett Degen, and David Carr all return next year. Also, Ramazan Attasaouv comes off redshirt. ISU is going to be a fun team to watch next season!
We're also assuming Kaid Brock is back at 141. It's confirmed that Brock did get another year of eligibility, but unfortunately, in reality, Piccininni did not, so it's possible we see Fix at 125, Brock at 133 and Kaden Gfeller at 141.
