Before Mason Parris placed third in Fargo last week, it had been a while since he wrestled freestyle. Five years to be exact.
At the NCAA tournament this year, Illinois’ Emory Parker was the lone guy to lose in the first round and come all the way back. Over the course of the tournament, he won seven straight matches to finish third after falling in his opening match to Chip Ness. Needless to say, Parker did it in the hardest way possible.

Sage Mortimer of Utah had quite the impressive week at Fargo. Mortimer, who will be a sophomore at the American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork, Utah, wrestled in three separate tournaments at the 2018 USAW Cadet and Junior National Championships, earning three All-American honors, making the finals twice, and winning a coveted stop sign in the cadet women's 100lb division.

Over 3,000 wrestlers competed in Fargo last week, comprising 4,999 bracket entries across three styles and two age divisions. All but Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Mississippi sent delegations to the Fargodome for the high school wrestling bonanza.

For the last few years, the bright lights of Fargo have eliminated some big-time performances that earned someone a title and an invite to Who’s #1.
Many of you have heard the term "doubling up" when it comes to Fargo. For the guys, that usually means winning both freestyle and Greco-Roman national titles. But for the women, it means winning both age groups.
