Kollin Rath had a monster weekend back at the PIAA Team Championships where bumped up to 145 pounds and avenged a loss from last year’s state tournament with a buzzer-beater over two-time PIAA champion Mac Church. Rath followed that win up with a win over another returning state champion in #3 Dalton Perry later that day to solidify himself at the #1 ranking. Rath has had an incredible sophomore campaign and will look to cap it off with his first state championship this weekend. Returning state champion Pierson Manville picked up his second and third wins this season over Perry at the District and Northwest Regional tournaments to remain at the #2. Eli Carr defeated #10 Nate Stone, #7 Blake Reihner, and #5 Nate Roth to move up to the #4 ranking, while Roth picked up two wins over #9 Lonzy Vielma to enter the rankings at #5. It would be hard to imagine the top three in this weight class not finishing top three, and although they have all met this season, it should still make for amazing matchups late in the tournament with a state championship on the line.
