After taking a loss to returning state champion Dylan Evans in the Section finals, Shawn Taylor was able to avenge that loss in the Southwest Region final and pick up his third win over Evans this season to maintain the #1 ranking heading into the state tournament. That could likely be the state final at this weight class, and it will be interesting to follow if these two were to hit for a fifth time this season, as all of their matches have been decided by two points or less. Dominic Frontino picked up a technical fall win over #8 Brett Barbush in the Southcentral Region finals to move up to the #3 ranking. The bottom half of the rankings shook up quite a bit, with Gavyn Beck, Barbush, Gavin Pascoe, and Josh Barlow all entering into the top 10 at 160 pounds heading into the AAA state tournament.
